Fireborn Studios....On Line Shopping Area
Over the last twenty years I have sold my work to dozens of galleries all across the USA. However in 2007 I reevaluated and changed directions. I decided to focus exclusively on my own gallery, here in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I wanted to devote myself to making the best and most beautiful work possible, not restocking someone's else's shelves half way across the country, to their specifications....and frankly, it has worked. My work is now better than ever and so are my gallery sales, plus, I'm having a lot more fun!
Since 2007 there has been repeated requests from folks who have been collecting my work over the years, but can't get to Pittsburgh, to offer them something on line. This online store is my feeble attempt to accommodate. I say feeble because, although I make a vast array of one of a kind pottery, I offer only a few things on line. The reality of online sales of one of a kind artwork is that it requires a huge amount of photography, web site maintenance, inventory, packing and shipping and paperwork- which are all off center for me. What I really want to be doing is working in the studio making pots and simply carrying them into my gallery.
That said, this is what I sell on line:
- Bowls & Platters- Bowls and platters are social. They are open forms, freely freely giving of their content. They serve up visual treats both when empty and when you fill them with delicious food. The inside of a of a bowl, the surfface of a platter, is the focal point. Most of my bowls and platters are colorful and have hanging straps, so they can be displayed on a wall as well as a table. They are also excellent centerpieces in a living room or dining room. Bowls are excellent for presenting flower arrangements.
- Mugs- Mugs are all about you and intimacy and private moments. You feel it with your hands, cradle it's warmth, touch it to your lips. The mugs I make are large, about 14 ounces. Big enough to carry to your desk or into the living room. Big enough to relax with.
- Vases- Vases are all about form, line and color. The out side of a vase is the focal point. They can rest on a table, or higher, at eye level. Vases can stand alone or be used to display flowers. Either way you will enjoy looking at them. A good vase should not overpower a flower arrangement, it should complement it.
- Glass- The glass I sell I buy form other artist and sell in my gallery, but I thought you might like it.
