Make Up Classes
We try to be flexible. If you want to make up a missed class, you may do so by
scheduling class on another day of the week, space permitting (for example if
you regularly attend Thursday’s class, you can make up on a Tuesday). Please
call to reschedule. You will need to fit your make-up classes within your eight
week session.

Section 1. If you want to make up a missed class you may do so by
scheduling class on another day of the week, space permitting (for example if
you regularly attend Wednesday’s class, you can make up on a Tuesday).
Please call to reschedule. You need to fit your make-up classes within your
eight week session or during a consecutive 8-week session.
Section 2. One problem area is students wanting to extend their session to
nine weeks so they can make up a class or do some glazing. Space permitting,
you may do so. See the price list link on your left.
Section 3. Another problem is vacations and scheduled absences. If there are
3 weeks till your vacation, sign up at the one-up rate for 3 weeks, instead of for
eight weeks, especially if you can't do make-up classes. See the price list for
one-up class prices.
Section 4. If you ask me to hold a start date open for you, you need to keep up
your end of the arrangement and start when agreed. Likewise, if you plan not to
continue, advance notice will help me with scheduling for new students. Your
consideration in these areas is appreciated.
Section 5. If something comes up unexpectedly in the middle of your session
and you miss a class, either make it up (see Section 1), add another class
(see Section 2), or lose it.
There are no other provisions for making up classes.
We feel we have the best class situation in the area. We are flexible, our
classes are small, you are in a functioning artist’s studio, not a classroom, and
we have the best equipment and the best glazes.
Whereas all the other places that offer classes are nonprofit and get grant
money to subsidize their classes, Fireborn is privately owned and we need to
watch our bottom line. The economic life of an artist is tenuous at best.
However, we still charge less than other institutions and offer you more. Please
don't put me in the awkward position of having to deal with deviations from this
policy or use our friendship to put me at a disadvantage.
